Unleashing Your Potential:
The Journey of Connection and Wellbeing
Do you remember what caught your attention as a child? I grew up in a salon, doing jobs like handing up perm papers, sweeping hair, and making tea, and although I didn't become a hairdresser, this experience sparked my passion for becoming a Cosmetic Formulation Chemist.
I had fallen in love with products! There are photos of me from the 70’s and 80’s talking to a camera about the texture and effect of a product. In the 90’s I researched, tested, and persevered to create the beloved CPR Phase 1, conditioning styling aid.
Just like a precision cut needs sharp scissors, our skills are most effective when we know their purpose. My determination to stay true to my purpose eventually taught me the value of clarity.
Because just like you, it sometimes feels like life is a winding road, with twists and turns that lead us to discover our true purpose.
My journey has been like exploring twisting country roads which have helped me understand the connections that bring joy to our lives. We are connected to the land, our community, each other, and, most importantly, ourselves.
Amongst those twists and turns, one of the hardest curves I had to navigate was mental ill-health. It came and went over years, having devastating effects on me. My only solution was to approach it like a chemist - researching theories, formulating plans, and adjusting until it worked just right.
This process is incredibly similar to what we need to do with water in the lab before we start blending. Tap water has some chemicals in it to make it healthy for drinking, but as a result, it will change the properties of other ingredients when mixed in. By first purifying the water, we allow added ingredients to reach their full potential. Similarly, addressing our "impurities" elevates our capabilities and frees us to feel joyful and liberated.
Six years ago, I started my business. The clarity I had gained through my journey had empowered me to support those affected by mental ill-health. I became an Accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor, certified to deliver a number of profiling tools for coaching, researched heavily, formulated programs, and tested my formula in the market.
Today, I have trained over 1,000 business leaders in MHFA, have developed programs that support more compassionate, connected workplaces, and have built a podcast that raises awareness and understanding about the topics that hold us back from having a real conversation with purpose.
Now, the formula is solid and sustainable, and I'm excited to share it at The Salon Forum in February. Together, we'll explore the formula for connection to bring clarity to your mental health and wellbeing.
Life's journey may be unpredictable, but with purpose, continuous growth, support, and the right formula, together we can unleash our potential and make a positive impact on ourselves, each other, and our local community. See you at The Salon Forum!
