Expert Tips For Creating The Femulè:

The Femulè, is a fun and playful baby mullet hairstyle that exudes personality and individuality. As one of Stevi Stilist’s signature hairstyles, she shares some tips to keep in mind when cutting a mullet hairstyle in the salon.

Cutting to the Natural Fall:

When crafting The Femulè, it's crucial to work with the hair's natural fall. Cutting the hair when it's not freshly washed or clean allows you to see how it naturally wants to sit. This approach ensures that the haircut remains manageable for clients at home, requiring minimal styling efforts. It's particularly important to embrace the hair's natural texture, especially if it has curls or waves.

Work from Front to Back:

To gain a clear understanding of the desired outcome, begin the haircut at the front of the head. This initial point will serve as a guide for the subsequent sections. By progressively working towards the back, you can maintain consistency and achieve a well-balanced mullet style.

Creating Division between sections:

For edgier mullet looks, Stevi recommends sectioning a triangular section directly above the ear. By clipping this section, a clear separation is established between the front and back areas. As you finish the front side sections, the textured volume and curls on top will cleverly conceal the clipped section, creating an invisible undercut. It ensures softness around the ears while maintaining a neat appearance as the hair grows out.

The Power of Texturising:

Texturising is a vital step in perfecting The Femulè and any hairstyle. Often overlooked due to time constraints during a client’s appointment,, it plays a crucial role in eliminating weight and adding dimension to the cut. Utilise a slicing technique to diffuse the lines and remove bulk in diagonal sections, creating a weightless flow throughout the layers. To further enhance the haircut's movement and lift, finish with crocodile thinning scissors. Although this step may be intimidating for some, when used correctly, it can introduce texture and distortion, elevating the overall look.
